A New Alternative To Clinical Engineering
Like Medical Electronics, Clinical Engineering is a branch of education connecting the medical field and engineering, it has been a few years since its inception, but there is not much awareness in the society and educational institutions have not started this course very enthusiastically.
It is the least organized in the country. Not much is known about it because of lack of awareness about it. Because the magic of the word engineering has been created at present and the access to good educational institutions is far from over, any curriculum that mentions the term engineering has a tendency for children. This is also the case with the branch. Three institutes have started this course together in Tamil Nadu. These three institutes are Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Sri Chitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology , Trivandruma and Khrischan Medical College Vellore.
All three institutes are accredited and have started M.Tech a post-graduate course in clinical engineering.The specialty of this course is that it requires students to go to these three institutes for a while. This curriculum is of two and a half years long and the subject of clinical attachment has to be taught at Christian Medical College. At the same time you have to go to two other institutes to learn other subjects. This course covers topics such as biomaterials, molecular and cell biology, biomechanics, functional anatomy and physiology, biomedical imaging systems, medical device technology as well as critical care instrumentation.
This course teaches you how to use and maintain a variety of advanced equipment used in hospitals. Such graduates are also consulted when purchasing this equipment. Since all of these equipment is extremely complex and sensitive, it requires constant attention to how to safely use them. If something goes wrong with it, that tool is not defamed. But the organization was notorious. This means that the reputation of the organization lies in the hands of this engineer. A candidate seeking admission to this course must have one of the degree like B.E. or a B.Tech .
